Are there standard measurement tolerances I should be aware of for knit garmentsUnlike woven fabrics, knitwear is designed to stretch — and that flexibility is part of what makes it unique. For key flat-lay measurements, a standard tolerance of ± 3/4" is applied. To determine the full circumference tolerance for areas like the bust, waist, hips, bottom opening, thigh, and leg opening, this measurement is doubled. For instance, a 3/4" flat measurement for the bust equals a ±1.5" tolerance around the full bust circumference.

How do I know what gauge to choose?Gauge refers to density and thickness of a knitted fabric. 12GG with 12 stitches of rows per inch, gives a tighter typically thinner fabric. 7GG is more loose and open, generally more relaxed knit. The choice between either, depends on the intended use of the garment. a 12GG garment is generally for lightweight dressy sweater, perfect for in between seasons so has a good all year round wear. A 7GG might be for a more substantial garment, perfect for the fall and winter wear. In general, the lower gauge number, offers a thicker knit and the more warmth it offers. The higher the gauge, the thinner more lightweight it would be.
